About LAM

Life After Matric (LAM) is a non-profit organization established in 2012 by young residents from Hammanskraal who were enrolled at different academic institutions. The organization started off as career workshops offered to high school learners, presented by students from around the community together with fellow LAM members.

Our PROGRAM

The focus of the presentation was to expose the learners and help them utilize facilities, resources and the information available to them.

Educate
We Educate and Train Learners through: Presentations to share resources, We run workshops to provide skills and plan Exposure Trips. Visit facilities that will advice on career choice.
Beyond the Classroom
Beyond the classroom program focuses on exposing the learners to their potential and educating beyond the walls of the classroom through blended learning.
Mentorship
Our Mentorship Programme is a volunteer programme aimed at educating, equipping and empowering students with career and academic advice, entrepreneurial ventures and life skills.

Become a MENTOR

Volunteer to become a mentor at LAM and help less privileged students to attend the university of their dreams.

Make a Difference

You can change your mentee’s lives! Imagine the support you wish you had when you decided where to study or how to write your personal statement.

Connection & Impact

You will be paired with a mentee - ideally from your region - who is interested in studying a qualification similar to yours at university and thrive.

Time is precious

3-5 hours a week of your support can have great impact. As a mentor, you provide applicants with encouragement, application support and tips and tricks throughout the application process.
